Who started Skate 7?

Skate 7 was started by Ryan, Mike, and Jay – three hockey parents who wanted to maintain the long-established morning skates at Bill Bolton. The three met over the desire to keep the ice time for the young skaters in the community, and built Skate 7 from there.

Where can I park?

Great question – and the parking enforcement people love picking on rink-goers. So, north of the rink along Vermont and west of the rink along Palmerston does have limited parking that begins at 7 am. Many of the streets around the rink have resident-only parking until 10 am and Bathurst has no parking zones in the morning as well.

To avoid tickets, we recommend dropping your skater off to get ready, and then parking in Loblaws at Dupont and Christie, and retrieving your car to pick them up afterward. The walk through the neighbourhood is between 5 and 7 minutes, depending on your pace.

Why does it cost what it costs?

Our goal with Skate 7 is to keep the morning skates operational at Bill Bolton. That includes holding ice time for the skating season and locking down coaches to make it all happen. From our research, we know that $45 for drop-ins is lower than most well-coached skates.
